The apartment of surprise

In the heart of Athens, a 120 m2 ground floor apartment was completely renovated. Its tenant, K., has aptly characterized it as the 'apartment of surprises.' While the exterior seamlessly blends with the vibrant and lively atmosphere of the colorful area, the interior adopts a white, minimalist approach, exuding a sense of calmness.
Due to its initial poor condition, the goal was to breathe new life into this 1930s apartment. The layout remains simple, with the living room and dining area situated in the heart of the apartment, while the private rooms form a separate unit at the front side of the building.
The strategic placement of the kitchen, seamlessly adjoins the patio and living area. This union is facilitated by a grand internal window, a portal between the kitchen and the living room, that not only fosters visual connectivity but also welcomes an abundance of natural light, infusing the interiors with a luminous warmth.
The restored high ceilings create an airy and light-filled space, while the custom-made white library, shelves, and kitchen, along with the warm-toned wooden floor, contribute to an elegant aesthetic.
